On January 5th, 2023, we opened our first HACD Free classes through Zoom. Surprisingly, almost hundreds of participants from 14 different countries became part of us. Isn't it fantastic? HACD presents an educational session every Thursday afternoon where we share multiple outstanding lectures. Furthermore, we generally have 8 lectures per season, which means we spend virtually one entire month together, creating memories and learning new things to treasure.
It was genuinely surprising and remarkable that many participants from various nations joined us, which shows that even though we are far from one another, we still share a strong connection with one another because we are able to have excellent interactions. The best part that we are grateful for is your encouragement and enthusiasm in HACD, which many participants have proven.
From the moment our classes begin, you will be greeted with lovely smiles from Mentor Jeonghae and Naya, a new member of HACD, who introduced themselves at the beginning of our seminar and showed a lot of energy. They're both the MC of Season 1, thank you for spending time with us and giving your greatest effort. They made the event perfectly and well-organized, it’s an honor. On the 5th of January, HACD started the first seminar, "Learning Archetypal Culture with Hallyu." We additionally provided lots of lectures on a weekly basis, so coming to attend classes is constantly exciting to participate in. Our team witnessed the interest shown by the attendees in the very first Lecture of Season 1, and they're very excited about getting to know the HACD mentors and hear amazing lectures from our teachers. We also introduced Teacher Sangkyu Lee, the Manila branch manager of Daehan Sarang Corporation, who has been teaching Korean compatriots and locals in the Philippines for 5 years, and he was the instructor who discussed and shared the first lesson we had accomplished. The participants were impressed by Teacher Lee's valuable lectures, and it's great to see everyone enjoying the class overall.
We felt so inspired because many participants asked follow-up questions and provided positive feedback afterwards. It was unforgettable that many participants supported HACD by giving their full attention and efforts because they're truly passionate about it. They also created beautiful newscards and shared what they had learned throughout the HACD classes, and with the guidance of our teachers, they gained a lot of understanding about the content. Participants always submit their completed pieces before the season ends, and it's fantastic to see how engaged and cheerful they are during the classes.

Hwanin and Hwanung: The Epic Korean Tale of Gods And a City of Harmony Korean myths are like stories that help people understand their history and beliefs. One of the most important Korean myths is about Hwanin and Hwanung. It tells us where Koreans come from and what they believe in. Before we dive into the exciting story of Hwanin and Hwanung, we need to know what mythology is. Mythology is a collection of stories that teach people about their culture and history. In Korea, these stories are influenced by shamanism, animism, and Confucianism. They're not just tales; they're like the building blocks of Korean identity. Discovering the Rich Tapestry of Korean History and Culture: My Journey through Bukchon Hanok Village along with HACD mentors As a Korean language student, I always dreamt of immersing myself in the captivating world of Korean history, customs, and culture. Perceptibly as a beginner, I was always searching for sources to begin my journey of understanding true Korean history and culture. I feel so fortunate that I got to know about HACD (Hallyu Archetypal Culture Delegation). Through the informative sessions curated by professors and mentors, I started to understand the true essence of Korean history in depth. Being a part of the HACD organization became the source of my motivation to come to Korea and explore the rich heritage through my own eyes. And finally, this opportunity came in the form of the prestigious Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), through which I finally started my quest in Korea at Kyung Hee University (경희대학교), as a Korean language and culture education (국제한국언어문화학과) st
South Korea in 2018; Through my Eyes 2018 for me was a very significant year. I was in my final year in highschool and my sister who I was and still am very close to, got accepted as an exchange student (교환 학생: Gyo-Hwan Hak-Saeng) to Kyungpook National University in Daegu. I was very anxious about being so far from her for almost a whole year and soon after her departure in February of 2018, I was very dejected. Fast forward to a few months later, in the month of May, my father informed us to pack our bags for travel. It was only by mid-May did I find out that we would be traveling to South Korea! I was beyond ecstatic! 2018 in South Korea was quite a hectic time as well. Earlier in the year, the country had its first talk with North Korea in a decade, at the Joint Security Area* (JSA) regarding sending its athletes to South Korea, as it hosted the Winter Olympics for that year, in Pyeongchang. Later that year, the South Korean local and by-election also took place. These ar
