From the very beginning of the Season, we gave a lot of presentations and helpful information. The Hallyu Archetypal Culture Delegation, or HACD, was located in South Korea.    MC Jeonghae expressed her disappointment that the 7th Session was the last session! She started the session by reading the reviews from last class. One touching comment was from Ivy Luna who said “HACD, I can’t thank you enough for your selfless service and charity for humanity!” Definitely! It’s hard to believe that these extraordinary lectures are free as well! Thank you Ivy Luna! Mr. Lee from the Philippines started the lecture by introducing us to the book “Asian Millenarianism” written by Hong-Beom Rhee. This book mentions the Hongik Ingan ideology and the Donghak Movement. Hongik Ingan means “fostering wide reaching benefits for humanity”. The leader of the Donghak Movement was Choe Su-Un/ Choe Je-U. During this time, the defeat of Russia in the Russo-Japanese War contributed to Korea’s political unrest and the Joseon Dynasty was about to collapse due to Western Expansionism and Imperial Japan. The main ideologies in the Donghak Movement were Hongik Ingan and Gaebyeok (Great O

What exactly are you waiting for? Let us read together and experience the awesome stories of HACD. Making a lot of memories with HACD is a lot of fun. MC Jeonghae mentioned the video that we watched while patiently awaiting the class to begin at the beginning of the session, and the presentation is about the beautiful harmony between Korean instruments and modern music. It's fascinating to see how much the participants like the presentation that we shared with them as we wait for the other attendees. We also presented the excellent remarks from the previous week's class from the attendees before we started our lesson. HACD feels profoundly inspired and grateful that they provide such positive feedback and messages about the presentation. It's also wonderful that the meditation session provi

As always, MC Jeonghae greeted us with a bright smile! She read the reviews from the last class and the most impressive comment was from Jaiwanti and Christine. Jaiwanti said that the similarities in western and eastern cultures made her realize how everyone’s roots are the same! Christine agrees that all of our cultures come from a common source but are changed as the time passes.  Mr. Lee from the Philippines gave the lecture. We didn’t know that the Scripture of Heavenly Code was about math! This scripture greatly influenced the Hado and the 8 Trigrams which are drawn by the Great Bright Bok Hui or Fuxi. The Hado and 8 Trigrams are the basis of I Ching and also influenced the development of binary digits.  The Scripture of Heavenly Code or Cheonbugyeong has 81 characters. The people of Hwanguk learned this scripture by heart and it was orally transmitted through generations until around 4000 BCE. Hyeokdeok, an official from the Baedal Period first wrote the Scripture using Nokdo ch

[3rd Session] On the history texts, Samgukyusa MC Jeonghae started the session by reading the reviews about the last class. The comment that made us proud was from Ivy Luna from the Philippines who said “May we all from HACD class in our own ways be ambassadors in making their TRUE HISTORY be heard, recognized and accepted by the world”. Totally! That is the purpose behind the HACD programs and meetings and we hope that it will become a reality! This session’s lecturer was Mr. Lee from the Philippines. Samgukyusa is one of the 3 important history books of Korea which include Samguk Sagi and Dangun Segi. It was written by a Buddhist monk Il Yeon (1206- 1289). We read a passage from the “Old Joseon” Chapter of Samguk Yusa. According to the Book of Wei , Joseon existed over 2000 years ago by Dangun Wanggeom. The Capital is Asadal. According to the Gogi (Ancient Records of Korea), Hwanguk was composed of 12 countries. Hwanin was the ruler of Hwanguk and Hwanung was the ruler of Baedal.
