HALLYU WAVE FILLING A LACUNA IN PERFECT HEALING

HALLYU WAVE FILLING A LACUNA IN PERFECT HEALING

In the world of daily chaos , depression , anxiety issues , and any mental health or psychological aspects anyone facing we all are suffering with our own ups and downs as these are considered a part of life experiences, even though we never ask for them.

Especially the pandemic era, which was one of the worst and tragic periods every nation had gone through and lost pure lives. There is no particular level and range to determine who lost more as it’s painful to face any hard times , but comes to rescue is not always lookout for professional treatment sometime you just feel therapy with the things around you , and how those things impacting our psychological and emotional concerns which in the end lead to physical health.

Daily sadness , stress , depression or any other feeling one might face needs healing without forcing out particular time to heal it will change individual to individual .

And as in my 20’s I even faced and still learning with growing decisions of life with both positive and negative outcomes, mostly negatives as few things are not in our hands as well what we have in our hands is to be positive and try to find healing with the things that provide warmness, calmness , love and care. - it can be mesmerizing sunset or sunrise, cravings with comfort food , meeting 친구( friends), loved ones, spend time with family , doing meditation , travel, study , enjoy your hobbies.

Unlike others I will not say it will fully heal you or make you positive in one night but it surely paves the way towards healing especially when you don't want to seek outer help and heal in your own comforts . And as I have seen every age group or generations have their own connection with music , theater, dramas and entertainment , as it is way more impactful one can imagine . For me it was the year 2016- 2017 that I came across k-pop as it was not this much easy to access and search the song back days , sometime you listen the song but no anything much about other things , but I was always fond of South korea , Thailand , China or I can say asian region on fullest . The bond created with k-dramas and K-POP or Hallyu wave as a whole is still intact purely . I was positively changed , paved my career and have amazing idols as inspiration that help me fight with my worst times . And it is not something made in the last decade. It has always been there for the same reason , whether it’s Friday church community prayers , Bhajana and sangeet ( prayers towards god in the form of music chanted by devotees in every temple of INDIA).

In a report estimated by WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION - 3.8% of the population experience depression, including 5% of adults (4% among men and 6% among women), and 5.7% of adults older than 60 years. Approximately 280 million people in the world have depression.

Depression is about 50% more common among women than among men. Worldwide, more than 10% of pregnant women and women who have just given birth experience depression. More than 700 000 people die due to suicide every year. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in 15–29-year-olds. Although there are known, effective treatments for mental disorders, more than 75% of people in low- and middle-income countries receive no treatment. Barriers to effective care include a lack of investment in mental health care, lack of trained health-care providers and social stigma associated with mental disorders.

That's according to a new report from the Global Council on Brain Health (GCBH), an AARP-founded working group of scientists, health care professionals and other experts. Their latest report, “Music on Our Minds,” highlights research showing music's positive effect on emotional well-being, including improving mood, decreasing anxiety, and managing stress.

"There are so many mechanisms that explain the powerful impact that listening to a piece of music can have,” says report contributor Suzanne Hanser, president of the International Association for Music & Medicine (IAMM) and a professor of music therapy at Berklee College of Music. Research shows that music can have a beneficial effect on brain chemicals such as dopamine, which is linked to feelings of pleasure, and oxytocin, the so-called “love hormone.” And there is moderate evidence that music can help lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

The report also includes findings from the 2020 AARP Music and Brain Health Survey, a nationally representative survey of 3,185 adults that found that listening to music — whether in the background, by focused listening to recordings or at musical performances — had a small positive impact on mental well-being, depression and anxiety.

- Especially , in times when people are feeling sad, stressed and isolated because of the COVID-19 pandemic, people should definitely turn to music to better their mental well-being,

From slow-burn romances to slice of life narratives, K-dramas have served us wholesome narratives. Many have highlighted political, economic, and sociocultural issues that impact society, deftly weaving them into scenarios.

A consistent theme in dramas these days is mental health. K-dramas have poignantly and sensitively built awareness around mental health and highlighted the different struggles that fall under it.

As the characters come to terms and heal from their particular issues, this in turn empowers the viewer too—realizing that you’re not alone is somehow empowering. Relatable and striking an emotive chord about mental health.

K-drama precision mental health workshop, and, to examine the participants’ perspectives about the utility of K-dramas as a precision mental health educational tool. K-dramas have global popularity among all ages and races, region, or country.

K dramas are short (e.g., 2 episodes per week over 2 months), translated in numerous languages, watched in about 100 countries, and widely available online including on Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube. Research has shown that K-dramas are uniquely popular in many cultural groups, and have created meaningful cultural changes (e.g., positively affected Japan’s attitudes about ethnic Koreans’ identity and social position in Japan).

Furthermore, K-dramas may play a significant social-marketing tool given their intense emotional plots in conjunction with their worldwide prominence . K-dramas are different from INDIAN or AMERICAN television shows in the lack of sexual content as well as its focus on Confucian values such as responsibility and respect, Indian aspects of bollywood in past decade gone through amazing hits and at the same time being disappointed which is fulfilled by korean dramas and movies to all the viewers majority is definitely women , but I came across with amazing boy fandom as well , not only effects and script writing , hard work done by both female and make actor can be seen , I can’t resemble the times now that how many times I cried watching the drama or listening to many songs.

K-dramas are exported and broadcasted all over the world , which make it easier to access with subtitles or dubbed and even older generations find their comfort blanket in them, not to mention my mother is totally fond of k-drama and c-drama.

It has its historical origin to be considered as a mental health booster Drama has commonly been used as a form of therapy since the 18th century. Mental health hospitals used it as a way for patients to explore their own psychoses by developing their own plays. It was realized that Drama allowed people to explore life experiences, mental health issues and deep-set trauma that they found too painful or difficult to verbalize. Over the years, Drama Therapy has been refined and has become an exceptionally popular form of therapy.

Drama Therapy is not the same as a regular drama class. Drama Therapists are specially trained to guide people through different activities which can help them explore issues that they find difficult to deal with using traditional therapeutic routes. Individuals that take part in drama therapy have reported seeing a difference in their behavior, emotional state, anxiety levels, and relationships. The making and pattern is definitely kept on updating and evolving as per the generation but the outcomes are no where different.

● While watching the drama, your brain also works by imagining the scene that happened in the drama. It is such good stimulation for the brain. Indeed, it can help to promote the healthy brain as the human brain needs to be kept active.

● In this case, it is suggested to watch dramas with genre crime, suspense, and thriller. These genres are known to challenge yourself to pay attention to complicated stories, including red herrings, and to remember them from episode to episode. Then, the more you train your brain, then it becomes better and sharper. Excellent, isn’t it?

● If you suffer from stress and depression, then you need some healthy activities to deal with these problems. One of the ways is by watching Korean dramas. It will bring benefits to treat stress and depression. It is due to the work of the limbic system stimulated in the right way that triggers the release of brain chemicals such as serotonin (which helps us feel happy) and dopamine. These chemicals are known to help produce happy and comfortable feelings. Therefore, watching Korean dramas is something that should be taken into account to help you treat stress and depression.

● It cannot be denied that when you watch Korean drama, you imagine yourself being in the scene. This can trigger the brain to work creating imagination. It is a good thing for sure! It makes you creative and thinks about new ideas as well.

● In this case, watching Korean dramas can control your emotions. This is due to the ability of drama to express a range of emotions and encourage them to understand and deal with similar feelings they may be experiencing. As a result, you may feel what the character feels in the drama. This can be good for you to control the emotion better than before.

● Drama therapy is an embodied practice that is active and experiential. This approach can provide the context for participants to tell their stories, set goals and solve problems, express feelings, or achieve catharsis. Through drama, the depth and breadth of inner experience can be actively explored and interpersonal relationship skills can be enhanced.

And beside this it also represents a hidden career which is DRAMA THERAPIST. A Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) is certified in the practice of drama therapy, and follows the NADTA Code of Ethics, the NADTA Scope of Practice, and the Standards of Practice.

The educational requirements for the RDT involve: A master's or doctoral degree in drama therapy from a program accredited by the North American Drama Therapy Association or a master's or doctoral degree in theater or a mental health profession with additional in-depth training in drama therapy through NADTA's alternative training program. Board Certified Trainers/Registered Drama Therapists (RDT/BCT) train and supervise students in this alternative training program. Drama therapy education includes coursework in psychology and drama therapy, experience in theater, and supervised internship and work experience.

Mental health can be an abstract concept for those who are neurotypical, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try to understand it. Korean dramas have been bringing up mental health issues and incorporating them into the everyday lives of its characters, allowing viewers to empathize. so you can understand mental illnesses better as you watch the characters heal and grow.

Here I categorized them as per my intact understanding and I personally enjoy and found them breathtaking to watch …
