EASTERN LEARNING DONGHAK AND HONGIK INGAN PART -1
People's World |
What kind of world have we dreamed of ?
You might be saying a world without war, a world without poverty or a world with lots of chocolates 🍫, amusement parks 🎡🎢. You can definitely say that. But for a literal definition to explain this topic I say "A world where yin and yang are balanced and harmonized."
A place where the Spiritual World ( 精神) and Material World (物質) are balanced.
So Hong Beom Rhee, the Author of the book "Asian Millenarianism" mentioned this in the preface of his book that :
"The purpose of studying history is not simply to reconstruct the past but also to find truth in the world, to acquire human wisdom, to contribute to the development of civilization, and to achieve or at the least to endeavor to understand, the millenarian dream."
"Here, the concept of millenarianism is not limited to the messianic expectation of Judeo-Christian eschatology but is broadly applied to revolutionary and non revolutionary religious, social, and political movements such as Nazism, Communism, totalitarianism, socialism, postcolonial nationalism, Falun Gong, and terrorism. It even explores medicine, technology, and natural science as secular millennial equivalents."
~F. Hilary Conroy
So we can say that all the ancestors brought the history to be considered in experimental processes for the ideal world.
Hwanung of Seojabu aspired to save all under heaven and bring deliverance to the human world. Perceiving his son's aspiration, Hwanin, ruler of Hwanguk, gazed upon Mt. Sanwei and Mt. Taebaek and deemed both suitable for fostering wide-reaching benefits for humanity. ("Old Joseon" chapter, Samguk Yusa)
Hong Beom Rhee, he also mentioned that the birth type of all idealism can be found in the "HONGIK INGAN", which means fostering far reaching benefits for humanity along with the bounding spirit of ancient Korea. Hwanguk's ideology of fostering far-reaching benefits for all humanity became the ideological foundation of various religions and modern philosophies. In Russia, it developed into egalitarian philosophies such as socialism and communism; in Korea, it was revived as the Gaebyok philosophy of the Donghak movement. (So the spirit of ancient hongik ingan influence the idealism of various religions and philosophies like the Donghak and Gaebyok ideology.)
Only those who have achieved unity with heaven and earth can truly foster far-reaching benefits for all humanity (hong-ik ingan). Some of the Korean terms that describe this concept include tae-il (a person who has attained ultimate oneness) and daehan (a person who has realized great inner effulgence).
Material which is quite essential for humans, but establishment of the world can't only be done by materialistic things but it can be ultimately achieved by the spiritual revolution through which all humans are united.
So thinking about whether such a balance and harmony is possible in this world or not? This is actually possible through the Gaebyok. The individual freedom and social inequality love and Justice material world and spiritual world will be balanced by the autumn Gaebyok and it occur according to law of the nature, so the grand cosmic event Gaebyok was already predestined. Your personal decision to be prepared for the ideal world or not by cultivating your mind and body which depends on our mind
From the principle of yin and yang the order of spring ,summer, autumn and winter works. In the early heaven the cosmic spring -summer the Nakseo develops through mutual conflicts and negative energies such as hatred and grief develops throughout the human history.Cosmic 1 year chart is the essence of the yin and yang principle and the conclusion of Asian cosmology it is really simple but it leaves people profound and planes a lot of things. During the transition time cosmic summer to Autumn negative energy accumulated explodes and causes disaster, "Fate of the mysterious disease spreading across the entire world. Is this not ‘once again gaebyok?’" At the time of the Autumn Gaebyeok, without God’s intervention, nobody may survive and the entire universe may get collapsed. So managing the negative energy that has been accumulated throughout the human history and the all heaven, is the hardest and the difficult work of God and only he is able to manage this work.
A place where the Spiritual World ( 精神) and Material World (物質) are balanced.

The ideal world of each religion
Every religion has its own belief of idealism. But the ideal world is actually and ultimately the combination of all these preferences by different religions which is living in peace and have a balanced or harmony between the body and the mind. It would be a world where everyone knows God and no one misunderstand him. The world where the rules and regulations are governed by god; somewhere where the science and technology and Dao Magic technology are united. So thinking about whether such a balance and harmony is possible in this world or not? This is actually possible through the Gaebyok. The Marriage of Science and Empire
Science, industry and military technology intertwined only with the advent of the capitalist system and the Industrial Revolution. Once this relationship was established, however, it quickly transformed the world. If even Muhammad, Jesus, Buddha and Confucius- who knew everything there is to know were unable to abolish famine, disease, poverty and war from the world, how could we expect to do so?
As science began to solve one unsolvable problem after another, many became convinced that humankind could overcome any and every problem by acquiring and applying new knowledge. Poverty, sickness, wars, famines, old age and death itself were not the inevitable fate of humankind. They were simply the fruits of our ignorance.

The Industrial revolution for material development
Industrial Revolution driven by Imperialism, Capitalism and ProtestantismA German Carter |
A German Carter published in early 20th century criticized the way the British treated their colonies this Carter some how should the unification of the imperial revolution with imperialism , Catholicism and church. This picture depicts how the imperialist puts alcohol into the mouth of the black man and the workers squeezing his body and the priest justifying their action.
So the industrial revolution played a crucial role in globalizing the world by transportation and communication. All this transformed the world a lot but left quite a lot of problems also. All it also affected the world population a lot a straight increase was quite visible from the 1900 to the 2000. And also with the great progress of medical technology sciences development the human life span has also increased with help of all these.
The Industrial Revolution stimulated the desires of the imperialists, and the desires of the imperialists rapidly developed material civilization.
The major powers of Europe were engaged in a race to acquire and control colonies, resources, and markets around the world. This competition for global dominance created a tense political atmosphere and led to the formation of powerful military alliances, which ultimately led to the outbreak of World War 1 in 1914.At the same time, the development of science and technology during the late 19th and early 20th centuries played a crucial role in shaping the conflict. New military technologies such as machine guns, tanks, and chemical weapons, had emerged, which allowed armies to inflict greater casualties and caused a significant shift in the tactics and strategies of warfare. The development of the telegraph and radio also facilitated communication across great distances, allowing for more rapid mobilization and coordination of armies.
The Government of various ruling powers really invested in scientific and technological development to accelerate the advancement of the technology, where is something that is not pre-planned and should never occur but but a positive aspect of the war that came to be known as a principal of mutual conflict which led the lives of king and people to grow and development.
Era of Materialism
The contradictions between Christianity and chivalry, and social equality and individual freedom
In medieval Europe, the nobility believed in both Christianity and chivalry. A typical nobleman went to church in the morning and listened as the priest held forth on the lives of the saints. 'Vanity of vanities,' said the priest, 'all is vanity. Riches, lust, and honor are dangerous temptations. You must rise above them, and follow in Christ's footsteps. Be meek like Him, avoid violence,, [Love] Returning home in a meek and pensive mood, the nobleman would change into his best silks and go to a banquet in his lord's castle, and they exchanged dirty jokes and bloody war tales. 'It is better to die," declared the barons, 'than to live with shame. If someone questions your honor, only blood can wipe out the insult. [Justice]
Ever since the French Revolution, people throughout the world have gradually come to see both equality and individual freedom as fundamental values. The entire political history of the world since 1789 can be seen as a series of attempts to reconcile this contradiction.

The Wealth of Nations, laying the groundwork for capitalism It values the role of self-interest and competition and liberalism.
It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own self-interest.The Wealth of Nations, first published in 1776, discusses various economic concepts such as the division of labor, the role of [self- interest] and competition, and [the invisible hand], which argues that individuals pursuing their self-interest in a free market ultimately lead to the betterment of society as a whole.
The book also advocates for minimal government intervention in the economy and is considered one of the foundational texts of classical liberalism.
Despite its philosophical underpinnings, The Wealth of Nations is primarily an economic treatise, and its insights into the workings of markets and the importance of individual freedoms and private property have had a profound impact on the development of capitalism.
The Calvinist Doctrine of Predestination leading to the development of the capitalist work ethic for the capitalists
The Calvinist doctrine of predestination is the belief that God has already determined who will be saved and who will not be saved, even before people are born.
In this book, Max Weber argues that the development of capitalism in the Western world was strongly influenced by Protestant ethics, specifically the [Calvinist doctrine of predestination]. According to Weber, the belief that one's fate was predetermined by God led individuals to seek proof of their salvation through their dedication to vocational labor, leading to the development of the capitalist work ethic.
Weber also argues that capitalism was further reinforced by the emergence of modern accounting techniques, which allowed for rational calculation and efficiency in business operations. The book has been highly influential in the fields of sociology and economics, and its ideas continue to be debated and studied today.

Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905)
The defeat of Russia in the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905), fought over the occupation of Korea, contributed to growing unrest, which ultimately resulted in the downfall of the Tsarist regime. It was a time of great despair and national crisis for Koreans, too, because the Joseon Dynasty was heading towards collapse due to the concurrent drive of Western expansionism and Imperial Japan's ambition to take control over Korea.During this critical time in Korea, a revolutionary movement of Donghak ("Eastern Learning") spread the millenarian belief that Gaebyok ("renewal and rebirth of heaven and earth") was impending. It was a belief that the world as we know would end and a new era of lasting peace would dawn.
